Bone DensitometryOsteoporosis is the demineralization of the bones. It is important to check for osteoporosis as we get older for it can be stabilized with therapy. After 50 years of age, it is recommended to have a Bone Density done every 2 years. At Amherst Radiology, we have a G.E. Lunar unit on which we determine Osteoporosis on the lower back and hips. On Wednesdays, patients may come to our office for free screening on our Heel unit between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Please call us at 800.964.9729 to set-up an appointment. We also have an Achilles Unit, which may be used for screening purposes. These will be reviewed by a Radiologist and if it shows to be positive, the patient may have to come to our Table unit for a complete Bone Density.
