Cartoid Doppler

heartWe offer Carotid Doppler service at Amherst Radiology, which is an ultrasound of both right and left carotid arteries in the neck. It measures the blood flow velocities within the cervical carotid arteries, as well as the vertebral arteries and sometimes the subclavian arteries by means of non-invasive ultrasonic scanning in which the Doppler effect is utilized.

What is it for?

Using a cartoid doppler allows a doctor to be able to monitor the blood flow through blood vessels to the heart and the brain. This allows them to determine if there are any problems such as:

  • Detection of Tumors and masses
  • Detection of Cysts
  • Cancer Detection
  • Infections Diagnosis
  • Detection of Organ abnormalities
